The History Behind The Harvey Room
Frederick Henry Harvey- With the introduction of the Parlor Cars, Frederick Henry Harvey felt something was still missing in the ongoing attempt to make train travel more comfortable. Refreshments on trains were still unavailable. The Harvey girls (concessionaires named for Fred Harvey) were hired to serve snacks and drinks to the passengers during the trip. With this new improvement, train travel became more comfortable as well as enjoyable.
